New wave Mustang mixes it with retro influences from the hot rod scene.

The 1969 Fastback Mustang to many is one of the ultimate rides ever and no other Mustang that has been built over the years comes close. That maybe, but we at SuperFly see potential in every automotive we have the pleasure to come across. Whether they are from a time gone by or fresh on the scene, if the combination of modifications and creativity are influencing us to point our camera and shoot it, then it’s a winner.


Take this blindin’ 2005 V6 Mustang for instance. Yes it may not be from the era from the classic Fords, but you have to admit that its styling is truly up to date and not ugly at all, unlike most of the new metal we see on our roads.

Seeing such autos in the UK and to this standard is truly rare and if it wasn’t for its owner (John Simms), having experienced the custom versions at the Sema Show in Las Vegas, this one gracing these pages would have never been built. Once back in the UK, John found the car through an Internet Import company for a great price of £12,000 and being a V6 instead of a V8, meant that fuel consumption would be far less.

Once the car was in John’s hands, it was time to transform it from mundane silver with 16-inch wheels, to this blindin orange, chrome wearing road warrior. John’s inspiration came from seeing the Ford GTR Concept, which showcased a similar orange paint, bodykit and carbon. He then sourced a bodykit that would suit the original styling but add some added grunt mixed in with some tasty Seibon carbon parts.

However, John didn’t fancy a stripped out interior like the GTR Concept as luxury was his style. Mixing influences from the hotrod scene, john had the inside retrimmed and painted in lush cream and orange – a perfect combination especially with all that Kicker audio. Engine wise, john opted for a combination of a K&N typhoon intake system, Magnaflow exhaust and a JET Performance remap, to add an extra 65bhp.
