The Detroit Auto Show 2016 is now under way and here are a few of the autos unveiled.
Each year, Detroit hosts one of the largest automotive events in the world called The Detroit Auto Show and to kick start the new year, numerous manufactures are unveiling some of their latest hybrid creations. As we are all aware, manufactures have to look at alternative fuel resources, in order to keep our cars alive on our roads. So as much as it pains us that the usual engine sounds, will be a thing of the past in many years to come, at least we can see that the car is still being transformed for our future passion to continue.
Here are some of our favourites so far, including a few other non-hybrid vehicles thrown in the mix,
AUDI H TRON
Audi’s H-Tron Quattro fuel cell SUV concept shows that all manufactures will be looking to push alternative fuel sources. A full tank of H2 will provide a range of 373 mile and the on-board lithium batteries can by charged with the large solar panel on the roof.
VW TIGUAN GTE HYBRID
Volkswagen’s own SUV plugin hybrid concept, featuring a 1.4-litre TSI gas engine with a transmission mounted electric motor and also a 13-kWh battery pack. It will produce a combined 215bhp. It also features a full-length rooftop solar panel.
BMW’s latest unveiling, the world’s first M2. Powered by a new six-cylinder inline engine, with M TwinPower Turbo techonology and three-litre displacement delivering 370bhp and 343lb-ft.
2017 FORD FUSION
The latest 2017 Ford Fusion, is to Ford, ‘The most technologically advanced Ford ever built so far’. It does look very similar to the older version, but some styling enhancements have been made to the exterior, on a subtle level. The models available will be a V6 Sport, Platinum and a hybrid plug-in called Energi.
The Hyundai Genesis, will now be known as the Genesis G80.
THE KIA TELLURIDE
PORSCHE 911 TURBO S2
Porsche’s latest sexy 911, featuring a turbocharged 3.8-litre flat six, pushing 580bhp in the S, with a 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds! Top speed around 198mph.
ACURA PRECISION CONCEPT
With it’s futuristic styling queues, the Acura Precision is one cool looking car. Question is, ‘Will they actually produce it?’
LEXUS LC 500
I’ve rather liked the offering’s that Lexus bring to our roads and I’m really feeling this LC 500. Under the hood, you will find a V8 producing 467bhp with 389 lb-ft. 0-60 will be 4.5 seconds.
FORD F-150 RAPTOR
Having being driven in a Ford F-150 Raptor last year in California, I can say that I truly would like to own one. They feature a 3.5-litre Ecoboost engine, which should get around 411bhp with 434 lb-ft.
VLF FORCE 1 V10
VLF Automotive have just released their V10 supercar and it looks pretty cool. Although, I do see some styling resemblances to the Jaguar and Dodge Viper. It is powered by a 8.4-litre V10 pushing out a not too shy 745bhp with 638 lb-ft. Expect 0-60mph to be around 3-seconds and will retail at $268,000.
